A human chain and protest program was held in Lalmonirhat to protest the recent attacks, vandalism and barbaric attack on Dr. Nasir Islam, a doctor on duty at Shariatpur District Sadar Hospital.
The human chain was organized by Bangladesh Private Hospital, Clinic and Diagnostic Association (BPHCDA), Lalmonirhat District Branch, at the Mission More square in the city on Monday (May 18) afternoon.
The speakers at the human chain said that the incidents of attacks on doctors and health workers are increasing at an alarming rate. This is disrupting the normal environment of medical services and putting the health care sector under threat. They demanded immediate identification of the attackers and exemplary punishment.
Present at the event were Bangladesh Private Hospital, Clinic and Diagnostic Association (BPHCDA) Lalmonirhat District Branch President Alhaj Alauddin Al Azad, General Secretary Mohammad Majedul Islam, Senior Vice President Manjum Ali, and owners, officials and employees of various clinics and diagnostic centers in the district.
After the human chain, the participants urged the government to take effective steps to ensure the safety of doctors and stop attacks on healthcare institutions.
