A housewife named Ishita Rani (22) died mysteriously in Dumki of Patuakhali. The family of husband and father-in-law claimed that she (Ishita) died while undergoing treatment at Barisal Rahat Anwar Hospital due to stroke. On the other hand, husband and mother-in-law’s father Krishnakant Majhi has alleged that Ishita was killed due to physical and human abuse. When the housewife Ishita died while undergoing treatment at Barisal Rahat Anwar Hospital last Wednesday night, the dead body was brought to her husband’s village house in Dumki Upazila North Muradia of Patuakhali at 3 am. On hearing the news, hundreds of men and women gathered at the house to see the dead body of the housewives on Thursday morning. According to local sources, three years ago Ishita Rani (22), daughter of Krishnakant Majhi of North Muradia village of the upazila, got married to driver Sajal Mistry, son of Dhiren Mistry of the same village. They have a 16-month-old child Shastan. Usha Rani, the mother of the deceased housewife Ishita, complained that her mother-in-law and son-in-law were physically and mentally torturing her daughter since marriage. There is a long confusion in the two families. Ishita’s mother-in-law is known locally as a militant woman. She (mother-in-law) kept Ishita under house arrest all the time and did not let the family members even talk to her relatives. They killed the daughter (Ishita) by torturing mother and son together. Poor Ishita’s father Krishnakant Majhi complained that Ishita was not even informed about being admitted to a private hospital in Patuakhali in a state of unconsciousness. Leaving us unconscious, they took Ishita to Barisal Rahat Anwar Hospital. They tortured and killed my daughter in a planned way with father-in-law, mother-in-law and son-in-law. I want justice for my daughter’s murder. He said about filing a complaint at the police station, Sajal belongs to the family People on the side are preventing him from filing a complaint with the police. Housewife’s husband Swajal Mistry denied the allegations of torture and said that she died of a stroke. The hospital death certificate states the cause of death. Local UP member Abu Hanif said, I got to know the news of housewives keeping Ishita under house arrest. It seems that the girl may have had a stroke due to human disturbance. On receiving the information, a police team including Dumki Police Station OC Investigation Md. Mahbubur Rahman visited the spot. However, for the decision of the administration, the cremation of the body is pending. Md. Abdul Hannan, officer in charge of Dumki police station, said that the police were sent to the spot after hearing the complaint of the housewife’s death. However, there was no written complaint from the family in this incident. Legal action will be taken if complaints are received.
