An allegation has been made against Md. Abdul Alik (36), son of Abdul Mannaf of Sabia village of the same union, of living as husband and wife for a long time after forming a good relationship with a Bedejat family living in Chandnighat Union No. 7 in Moulvibazar. Seeking redress in this incident, the victim has filed a written complaint with the Moulvibazar Chief Legal Aid Officer (Joint District and Sessions Judge), District Legal Aid Office, Moulvibazar, but has not received any redress. Written complaint to the Moulvibazar District Legal Aid Office and published in multiple local sources – Md. Alik and Ruhela Begum (30) have been living as husband and wife for a long time, including areas adjacent to Sylhet Osmaninagar and Gorur Bazar, by falsely promising marriage through a marriage certificate. Latest – Gujarai Khasru of Chandnighat Union No. 7 of Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila had been living in various places including Miarbasa. But, now, he is delaying the marriage by giving a marriage certificate. When asked about this, Ruhela Begum said – Assuring me that he would take me home with a dowry of 5 lakh taka, he had sexual intercourse with me in various places including Sylhet, Goalabazar (Osmaninagar Police Station) and I became pregnant. He aborted the pregnancy several times. There are many documents of this. Due to the 3 abortions, I became seriously ill due to excessive bleeding. I took treatment from various doctors including Moulvibazar-250-bed Sadar Hospital. We are unmarried. We believe in people. In the blind faith of love, he took away about 4,75,000/- (four lakh seventy five thousand) taka in cash from me and my mother. When asked about this, several journalists, including this representative, admitted the truth of the incident and gave their exact statements – several families living in Osmaninagar, Sylhet, the area adjacent to Gorur Bazar and Chandnighat Union No. 7, Moulvibazar. To find out the truth of the incident, Md. Abdul Alik’s mobile phone was contacted several times at 5.20 pm today, but it was not possible to get his statement as he did not answer the phone.
