The court has arrested former Home Minister and BNP Vice President Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury in three separate cases of Ramna Model Police Station. Additional Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka today Sunday. Sultan Sohag Uddin was arrested after the court hearing.

Altaf appeared in the hearing virtually from jail due to illness. Earlier on February 7, he applied for his arrest and bail. Then the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka fixed February 11 for the court hearing of Rezaul Karim Chowdhury.

 

Four cases were filed against him in Ramna Model Police Station in connection with the BNP General Assembly held on October 28. RAB arrested him from Tongi area of Gazipur in the early hours of November 5. On that day, he was produced in court in a case of sabotage and vandalism in front of the Chief Justice’s residence.

Investigating officer and sub-inspector of Ramna Model Police Station Abu Anshar requested to keep him in jail until the investigation of the case is over. Following the plea, the court ordered him to be sent to jail. On November 29, the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court rejected his bail in this case. Currently, an application has been filed in the High Court for bail in this case.
