A rally and human chain were held in Dinajpur to protest the filing of a false case against Comilla correspondent M Hasan of Daily Amar Desh for publishing news of extortion against Jubo Dal leader Mahbub Ali Rashed in Comilla.
This human chain program was held in front of Dinajpur Press Club on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11 am under the joint initiative of Journalists Union Dinajpur (2936) and Amar Desh Pathak Mela Dinajpur.
The human chain program was moderated by Daily Amar Desh Correspondent Mahabubul Haque Khan, and was addressed by Journalists Union Dinajpur 2936 President Sadkat Ali Khan, Vice President Md. Faruk Hossain, General Secretary Mahfizul Islam Ripon, Finance Secretary Abdus Salam, Dipta TV’s Dinajpur correspondent Sultan Mahmud, NTV’s former staff reporter Promthesh Shil, Prothom Alo’s Dinajpur correspondent Rajiur Islam Raju, Daily Manabzamin’s correspondent Muhammad Kamruzzaman, Amar Desh Birampur Upazila correspondent Enamul Haque, Amar Desh Birol Upazila correspondent Md. Nazmul Haque, Daily Present Times’ Dinajpur District correspondent Md. Nur Islam Noyon, among others.
The speakers in the human chain said that the case filed against journalist M Hasan, Comilla correspondent of Amar Desh newspaper, is completely harassing. Such cases threaten the freedom of the media and make journalists insecure. The speakers demanded the immediate withdrawal of the false case filed against journalist M Hasan. They also called on the interim government and administration to ensure the safety of journalists in carrying out their professional duties.
Journalists from various electronic and print media were also present at the human chain.
