Dinajpur district will be declared landless and homeless free on Wednesday

In the fourth phase in Dinajpur district, in the second phase, 494 landless and homeless families will be provided houses with land. And through this, Dinajpur district will be declared landless and homeless. Deputy Commissioner Shakil Ahmed gave this information in a press briefing held at Dinajpur District Commissioner’s conference room on Tuesday (August 8-2023). The Deputy Commissioner said that already 4 upazilas (Nawabganj, Khansama, Kaharol and Birol) out of 13 upazilas of Dinajpur district have been declared landless and planetless. He said that not even one person will be homeless in Bangladesh. This dream of the Prime Minister is going to be a reality in Dinajpur district today. On Wednesday, 9 August 2023, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the program of transferring houses along with land to landless and homeless families. This includes 494 families in 7 upazilas of Dinajpur district. A total of 13240 A-class landless and homeless families have been rehabilitated in the first, second, third and fourth stages of Dinajpur district under the Ashrayan-2 project in keeping with the Prime Minister’s announcement. The number of houses allocated in the first, second and third phase in Dinajpur district was 10618. The acceptance, registration and transfer of which have been completed. Besides, tubewell and electricity facilities have been ensured for all the families in the first, second and third stages. The Deputy Commissioner also said that the number of houses allocated in the fourth phase in Dinajpur district is 2329. In the first phase, a total of 1835 houses have been inaugurated on 23-03-2023. Acknowledgment, registration and handover of the inaugurated houses have been completed. The remaining 494 houses will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister on Wednesday, August 9-2023. By inaugurating these houses by the Prime Minister, Dinajpur district will be landless and homeless free. Out of the 494 houses in the second phase of the fourth phase, 151 are in Dinajpur Sadar Upazila, 75 in Bochaganj, 136 in Birganj, 25 in Chirirbandar, 60 in Parvatipur, 17 in Birampur and 30 in Hakimpur Upazila.

It should be noted that out of the total 13240 houses allocated and provided in the first, second, third and fourth stages of Dinajpur district, 1101 houses are in Dinajpur Sadar Upazila, 686 in Biral, 925 in Bochaganj, 467 in Kaharol, 1300 in Birganj, 1316 in Khansama, 765 in Chirirbandar, 788 in Parvatipur, Phulbari. 1270 houses, 991 houses in Nawabganj, 1234 houses in Birampur, 510 houses in Hakimpur and 1887 houses in Ghoraghat upazila.
