A day-long consultative workshop on typhoid vaccination campaign-2025 was held in Satkhira with the participation of district-level media workers under the awareness campaign for the development of children, adolescents and women. The day-long consultative workshop was held at the conference room of the Civil Surgeon’s Office on Wednesday (September 24) at 11 am, organized by the District Information Office and in collaboration with UNICEF Bangladesh.
Satkhira Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdus Salam presided over the function as the chief guest. Satkhira District Police Superintendent Mohammad Monirul Islam spoke as the chief guest. He said in his speech that rumors should not be listened to and rumors should not be spread. Your child should be vaccinated within the right time by registering online. Faizul Haque, Director General of the Department of Mass Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, also addressed the journalists through video conference.
District Information Officer Jaharul Islam Tutul delivered the welcome speech at the beginning of the workshop. Assistant Director of the Department of Mass Communication Md. Monirul Islam was present as the special guest.
Medical Officer of the Civil Surgeon’s Office Dr. Ismat Jahan Sumana presented the main theme of the typhoid vaccination workshop through a multimedia projector.
In 2021, about 4,78,000 people were infected with typhoid fever in Bangladesh, of which 8,000 died. To control typhoid disease, the government has taken an initiative to provide free vaccination under the management of EPI. In continuation of this, typhoid vaccination will be given to children from 9 months to 15 years of age (ninth grade) in Satkhira. 5 lakh 7 thousand children in the district will be given this typhoid vaccine from October 12 to November 13.
About fifty journalists from the district level print and electronic media were present at the advocacy meeting.
