Millions of mourners have gathered in the Grand Mosque in Tehran since Saturday morning to attend the funeral of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a joint US-Israeli attack.
AFP journalists reported that the entire area was filled with mourners before the official program began.
AFP news agency reported.
According to eyewitnesses, the main courtyard of the huge complex was filled to the brim with mourners.
Meanwhile, authorities have imposed strict traffic restrictions across the capital in preparation for the funeral.
Another AFP journalist said that many people walked several kilometers to the Grand Mosque due to traffic jams and road closures, so that they could pay their last respects to the late leader.
