SB-Sujan:
A mobile court has imposed a fine of Tk 20,000 and ordered to cancel the license in the Ayesha Clinic in the BSCIC Industrial City area of Aditmari Upazila of Lalmonirhat.
On Monday (May 4) afternoon, Aditmari Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mosha Aziza Begum conducted the raid at the ‘Ayesha Clinic and Diagnostic Center’ located in the BSCIC area of the upazila. Upazila Resident Medical Officer Dr. Mohammad Nurunnabi Sarkar and Lalmonirhat Resident Medical Officer Dr. Kamrul Hasan Prince and other concerned officials were present in the raid.
Evidence of multiple irregularities was found in the clinic during the raid. There was no authorized lab technician, responsible doctor, valid drug license or registered pharmacist. It is known that the institution was being operated with these irregularities for a long time.
Earlier, the mobile court had conducted raids several times but had not found the clinic authorities. However, the raid was conducted again after the warnings were ignored and new complaints were raised.
Meanwhile, on May 2, it is alleged that a tumor operation was performed on a patient at the clinic. After the operation failed, the doctor concerned, Dr. Sayem, left the patient behind—this incident spread tension in the area and started discussions across the district.
In view of these complaints and irregularities, the mobile court fined the clinic 20,000 taka and ordered the immediate cancellation of its license.
The local administration said that such raids will continue to protect public health.
