A special cleanliness drive has been conducted to keep the internal environment of the Pirojpur Sadar Upazila Parishad premises and the area adjacent to the main road in front clean and aesthetic. This day-long program was organized under the special initiative and direct supervision of Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mamunur Rashid.
Weeds and bushes that have accumulated around the main administrative building of the Upazila Parishad, the residence area of the officials and the garden in front of the office are being cleaned. At the same time, the water drainage system has been activated by cleaning the internal drains of the Parishad. Not only inside the premises, but also the main entrance of the Parishad and the outer part of the boundary wall have been brought under this drive. The removal of garbage and bushes from the roadside has created a beautiful environment in the entire area.
During the inspection, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mamunur Rashid said, “As per the government’s instructions, we have adopted a specific action plan to ensure public health. According to this plan, a simultaneous cleanliness drive is being conducted in every office, union council, educational institution, commercial center and residential area of the upazila every Saturday. Our goal is to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes and build a clean upazila.”
He also said, “Along with government initiatives, the active participation of every citizen in this fight is essential. There is no alternative to awareness to avoid dengue and chikungunya. I humbly request people of all classes and professions of the upazila to keep their respective office premises, residences and surrounding areas clean every Saturday. Pay close attention to ensuring that water does not accumulate anywhere.”
The UNO also mentioned that it is the responsibility of the administration to ensure that the common people who come to seek services in government offices get a healthy and pleasant environment. He also said that this cleaning program will continue regularly.
The local civil society and government officials and employees have appreciated this timely initiative of the upazila administration.
