A cleanliness drive program has been celebrated in 2,000 educational institutions in the district under the ‘Clean Sunday’ program with the aim of building a clean Mymensingh. The district administration has implemented this program with the aim of creating cleanliness and environmental awareness among students and turning cleanliness into a social movement.
This cleanliness drive and tree plantation program was officially inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Saifur Rahman at Patgudam High School and Mahila Samity Udayan High School in Mymensingh city on Sunday.
District administration sources said that this drive will be conducted simultaneously in all educational institutions in the district every Sunday of the week. This program has officially started in 2,000 educational institutions from today. Teachers, guardians, students, journalists, prominent people of the society and people from different classes and professions have been called upon to get involved in it.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Saifur Rahman said, with the aim of building a ‘Clean Bangladesh’, a cleanliness drive called ‘Clean Sunday’ will be conducted in every educational institution of Mymensingh every Sunday of the week. Through this, we want to start the good practices of social values from the students themselves.
He said, education and awareness programs are being conducted in educational institutions to instill cleanliness habits in the daily lives of students. In addition, initiatives have been taken to form an environmental club in every school and appoint sanitation ambassadors. Cleanliness and sanitation programs will be conducted through these ambassadors. Overall, we want Clean Mymensingh to become a social movement. Through this, we want to make Mymensingh known as a clean city of Bangladesh.
The Deputy Commissioner also said that a committee has been formed under the leadership of the district administration to supervise the cleanliness program. Members of this committee will visit various educational institutions in the district. There is also a plan to recognize educational institutions that do good work in the field of cleanliness every month.
It is known that, besides voluntary organizations, various groups of the Department of Youth Development and the Department of Cooperatives will be involved in this activity. These organizations and groups will be given the responsibility of cleaning various places including specific areas, roads, markets and markets.
The Clean Up Bangladesh volunteer team, school teachers and students, along with district administration officials and employees were present in the cleaning drive.
