CHT Alliance Press Conference in Khagrachhari on distributing leaflets of Sampriti message in the interest of protecting the sovereignty of the country, and roadshow program.A press conference was organized by CHT Sampriti Alliance at Khagrachhari Press Club on Sunday morning, January 18.
CHT Sampriti Alliance Spokesperson, Paishikhai Marma said, “Today we want to say in very clear and unambiguous language that no kind of conspiracy, compromise or silence will be tolerated regarding the sovereignty, independence and state integrity of Bangladesh. An identified anti-national, separatist and conspiratorial group centered on the Chittagong Hill Tracts has been spreading propaganda, incitement and confusion against the state in a planned manner for a long time.” This evil force is directly attacking the very existence of Bangladesh.
We strongly declare that the Chittagong Hill Tracts were and will remain a part of Bangladesh. If anyone dares to deny this truth, they will have to suffer political, social and legal consequences. The message of the CHT Sampriti Alliance to those who are involved in conspiring to create instability within the country while protecting foreign interests is very clear: there is no place for anti-state politics on this soil. In this context, the CHT Sampriti Alliance has taken up a program of distributing leaflets with awareness messages and holding road meetings to protect sovereignty and prevent anti-national conspiracies. This program is not a formal arrangement, it is a political resistance. Along with the people, we will expose the mask of anti-state propaganda in every neighborhood, village and street.
We want to clearly warn the administration that if there is a delay in taking strict action against the anti-national evil force, the people themselves will build resistance. The responsibility of law enforcement and relevant authorities is to protect the state, not to protect any particular group. Now is the time to decide whether to support the state or the anti-state.
We call on political parties, social organizations and conscious citizens of the country to break the silence. History will not forgive those who remain silent today. There is no middle ground, no compromise on the issue of protecting sovereignty.
The CHT Harmony Alliance is clearly stating that this movement will be peaceful, but the position will be uncompromising. We will not hesitate to hold more stringent programs on the streets if necessary to protect the country’s independence, security and peace in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. We are taking to the field with the oath that no anti-national conspiracy will be carried out on the soil of Bangladesh.
CHT Harmony Alliance Convener, Thoiching Mong Chak said that the Chittagong Hill Tracts is part of Bangladesh, but in reality, this region has been subjected to systematic neglect, deprivation and discrimination for a long time. There can be no talk of national progress or state stability by depriving the people of the hilly regions of their basic rights like education, health and development. This failure is not only administrative, it is a political responsibility and a naked manifestation of state failure.
The picture of the Chittagong Hill Tracts in the education sector is terrible. There are no adequate educational institutions, no qualified teachers, no modern and up-to-date education system. Students in remote areas are still deprived of the light of education. Many schools are infrastructurally dilapidated, and in some places there is a teacher shortage for years. As a result, an entire generation is being deliberately left behind, which will create a deeper crisis in the future. The condition of the health sector is even more pitiful and shameful. There is an extreme shortage of quality hospitals, doctors, nurses and medicines in the remote areas of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. People have to travel long distances for treatment of common diseases, risking their lives. Untimely death without receiving emergency medical care has become an everyday occurrence here. This reality is in no way acceptable in a developing country. What is happening in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in the name of development is not real development, it is another name for discrimination, looting and mismanagement. Development imposed without planning, violence by vested interests and ignoring the local people can never be sustainable. If development does not bring positive changes in the lives of the people, then that development is meaningless and fraudulent.
CHT Sampriti Jote wants to clearly state that education, health and development are not a matter of political mercy, they are the constitutional and just rights of the people of the hilly regions. These sectors should not be used as political tools to settle accounts of power. If we want real peace, harmony and stability in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, the state must take responsible and firm decisions now. We strongly demand from the relevant authorities of the government to immediately increase the allocation to the education and health sectors in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, recruit skilled and permanent manpower, and ensure transparency and real participation of the local people in all development activities. Otherwise, the state will have to stand in the dock of history for this negligence and discrimination.
CHT Sampriti Jote firmly believes that sustainable peace and progress in the Chittagong Hill Tracts is never possible without equality, justice and inclusive development. We will be forced to highlight our position more strongly on the streets, in society and in the state for this just demand.
