A mobile court operation in Brahmanbaria on Saturday removed huge quantities of DIS and Internet cables risked under power poles and over level crossings. In a separate operation, seven thousand meters of illegal nets were seized and burnt. Executive Magistrate and Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mosharf Hossain conducted raids in the afternoon and afternoon at Titus river adjacent to the Sadar Upazila Bhadughar and Label crossing area of the city’s Collegepara.

According to mobile court sources, the upazila administration came to know through various means that illegal currents and ring nets are fishing in the Titas river of Bhadughar adjacent to the municipal area of Sadar upazila. On Saturday afternoon, two thousand meters of illegal ring nets and five thousand meters of current nets were seized for illegal fishing in the river. However, it was not possible to arrest the owners of these illegal nets as they fled after hearing about the operation. The seized nets were later burnt. Meanwhile, the Akhaura-bound Titas commuter train that left Dhaka at around 11:30 pm last Friday was crossing the level crossing area of Collegepara. At that time, two passengers on the roof of the train fell from the moving train after being patched with the wire under the electric pole above the railway line. One passenger died on the spot and another was injured.

As a result of this incident, Executive Magistrate and Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mosharof Hossain reached the level crossing area of Collegepara at around 3:30 pm on Saturday along with members of police, fire service and electricity department. Later, the dangerous wires above the railway line and on the power poles in the level crossing area were cut and removed. District Chhatra League President Rabiul Hossain was seen assisting in the removal of these dangerous wires.

Executive Magistrate and Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Mosharf Hossain said, “Two thousand meters of illegal ring nets and five thousand meters of current nets were seized and destroyed by fire in the light of Fisheries Protection and Conservation Act 1990 in the Titus river adjacent to the museum.” And there are many dangerous wires on the railway line in the level crossing area of Collegepara. The area is dangerous for passengers on top of the train as the wires are down. Because of this, he has been removed from there.
