At the central level of Chhatra Dal, two leaders were called ‘thieves and robbers’ and anger has arisen among the BNP leaders and activists in Trishal. There was a storm of criticism among the Chhatra Dal leaders and activists in Trishal as well, the police station, town and college Chhatra Dal protested strongly in the press conference.
A statement by Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Liton, member of National Executive Committee of BNP and convener of Mymensingh (retd) district BNP, has gone viral on social media, pointing to the responsibility of the central Chhatra Dal president and general secretary while approving the committee of Trishal Thana Chhatra Dal as the convenor of Roni-Sayem as joint convener.
In the discussion meeting of the founding anniversary of BNP, he said, ‘Two thieves and robbers came to the central level of the student body, they came and destroyed the whole of Bangladesh and left. That is why it is difficult for us to work in the place of Chhatra Dal. Besides, all the organs are very nicely placed in their respective positions.’
The video of his speech is 32 minutes and 38 seconds long. In it, he spoke sarcastically about the Chhatra Dal and highlighted various aspects of the movement of his party BNP.
He spoke as the chief guest at a discussion meeting on the occasion of the party’s 45th founding anniversary organized by upazila and municipal BNP at his own residence in Darirampur, Trishal on September 1.

District BNP convenor Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Liton held a press conference to protest against this statement. In the press conference, they said, in the discussion meeting of the 45th anniversary of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Dal BNP in Trishal, Mymensingh South District BNP convener Dr. Mahabubur Rahman Liton Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal central in the speech of the chief guest. Commenting on the leaders of the Parliament, Bishadgar said, “Some thieves, miscreants and robbers from the central level of the Chhatra Dal have come. They have been scattered all over Bangladesh.”
The leaders of Upazila Chhatra Dal, Paur Chhatra Dal and Govt Nazrul College branch Chhatra Dal held a press conference in Trishal in Mymensingh to protest his statement.
Convener of Trishal Upazila Chhatra Dal, Sabbir Ahmed Roni, member secretary of Upazila Chhatra Dal Abu Chalem addressed the press conference at Trishal Press Club auditorium on Monday afternoon.
Convener of Municipal Chhatra Dal, Amirul Islam, Member Secretary of College Branch Chhatra Dal, Shanto Tarafdar, Joint Convenor of Upzilla Chhatra Dal, Ashraful Alam Naeem, Roknuzzaman Bappi, Abdullah Al Mamun, Mazharul Islam, Motaleb and others were present.
