On the occasion of upcoming Ramzan, on the initiative of Jamuna Bank Foundation, food assistance of Tk 10 lakh has been provided to 15 unions and one municipality of Barura. Thursday morning, March 23, Barura Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sabrina Afrin Mustafa attended her office as the chief guest and handed over 1050 packets of food items to the poor, destitute and orphanages. Barura Municipal Mayor Bakhtar Hossain Bakhtiar, Jamuna Bank Branch Manager Jahangir Alam, Global Islami Bank Branch Manager Dhaka Barura Student Welfare Association Former Senior Vice President Shahnur Alam, Former General Secretary Kamruzzaman Rimon spoke on the occasion. The speakers thanked the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jamuna Bank, Chairman of Standard Group and Engineer Md. Atiqur Rahman, the son of Barura, for this initiative. He said that standing next to the poor and distressed in Ramadan is a unique precedent in the market of rising commodity prices. He expressed hope that this trend will continue in the future as in the past. Also present were former president of Barura Student Welfare Association Md. Yachin Mia, former general secretary Shahparan, former president Idris Talukder, former general secretary Tanveer Hossain, former general secretary Alauddin, current president Nazmul Hossain Molla, general secretary Nawab Hossain and many others.
