On August 14, 1947, after the end of British rule, India was partitioned and a strange state named Pakistan was born. But the progressives could not accept that strange division. As part of that, he organized the Second Council of the East Bengal Muslim League on 18, 19 and 20 June 1949. Then the party’s first leader Chowdhury Khalikuzzaman accused a section of East Bengal as conspirators against Pakistan. Later, as a response to this conference, the political leaders of East Pakistan, who had been angry for a long time, met in a conference on 23 June 1949 at the Rose Garden Hallroom located in KM Dash Lane, Tikatuli, Dhaka under the chairmanship of Ataur Rahman Khan. Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani was the chief guest. Sherebangla was present at the conference for some time and gave a brief and important speech. Pakistan as the first opposition party in this conference ‘East Pakistan Awami Muslim League’ was formed. Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani became the president and Shamsul Haque became the general secretary. Then Sheikh Mujib was elected the first joint general secretary of that party from jail. In the 40-member organizing committee, 29-year-old Sheikh Mujib was nominated as joint general secretary of the party due to his merit. Some other members of that committee were – Vice President Advocate Ataur Rahman Khan, Businessman Sakhawat Hossain, Ali Ahmad MLA, Advocate Ali Amjad Khan, Advocate Abdus Salam Khan, 2nd Joint Editor Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmad, Co-Editor AKM Rafiqul Hossain and Treasurer Yar Mohammad Khan etc. After Sheikh Mujib was released from jail, he slowly organized the party and on July 9, 1953, he was elected as the general secretary of the East Pakistan Awami League Council. In 1954, under the leadership of Haque-Bhasani-Suhrawardy, East Pakistan won 223 out of 237 seats in the East Pakistan Assembly elections on 14 March. Among them, partner Awami League alone gets 143 seats. In the special council session of the party on October 21, 1955, the word ‘Muslim’ was dropped from the Awami Muslim League. On 30 May 1957, Sheikh Mujib left the ministry to serve as the party’s general secretary full-time, creating another precedent not often seen in politics.

On March 20, 1966, Sheikh Mujib became the president of the Awami League and Tajuddin Ahmed became the general secretary, and six points were announced that year. On May 3, 1968, the Agartala conspiracy case was filed in the name of 35 people with Sheikh Mujib as the main accused. At that time, Sheikh Mujib became the uncrowned emperor of Bengal from prison. He was released from prison on 22nd February 1969 and was conferred the title of Bangabandhu on 23rd February in front of millions of people at Racecourse Maidan. Then on December 7, 1970, Awami League won 167 seats out of 169 seats in the National Assembly elections of Pakistan. On December 17 of the same year, Awami League won 288 out of 300 seats in the provincial council elections. These were the achievements of Awami League before independence. Then the independence of the country was held by Awami League. However, there have been many conspiracies against this party at different times, the victim of which is its founder Bangabandhu himself. However, the country is moving forward under the leadership of his daughter Sheikh Hasina for the welfare of the people of Bangladesh. From August 15, 1975 until May 17, 1981 when Sheikh Hasina’s party took over, Awami League had to go through a difficult time. So now the historical days of the past are being celebrated. As a part of that, another historic day in Bengali history was celebrated on June 7. Bangabandhu’s hand-made 6-point slogan on June 7, 1966 was later written under his leadership for independence, freedom and independence of Bengalis. And as the successor of Bangabandhu, his daughter, the present Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Jannetri Sheikh Hasina, has taken the country to a new height today and cannot be imagined. None of these would have been possible if Bangabandhu on 10 January 1972 and his daughter Sheikh Hasina on 17 May 1981 could not return to their homeland as heroes after independence. On February 15, 1981, Sheikh Hasina became the president of the party in a central council of Bangladesh Awami League held at the Eden Hotel in Dhaka. Since then, she has been serving as the president of this party for 35 years. The father of the nation was imprisoned in Pakistan during the war after the independence of Bangladesh under the leadership of Bangabandhu through a nine-month guerilla war from March 7 to December 16, 1971, after a long struggle. At that time Sheikh Hasina along with most of her family members were staying at house number 32 in Dhanmondi. Later, Bangabandhu made a historic return to his homeland on January 10, 1972 at Birdarp. His daughter’s homecoming in 1981 was similar to Bangabandhu’s homecoming on that day. The difference between them is only a decade. From 1981 to 1991, as a result of the struggle against dictatorship, the democratic system was introduced in the country, but the country went into a deep conspiracy. Moreover, his party fell into the propaganda of a deep political conspiracy about anti-India and religion. Even then, his movement did not stop and he did not give up. But finally, on June 12, 1996, he ascended to power after 21 years through a free and fair election. During that period, he started the murder trial of Bangabandhu and four national leaders by repealing the Black Indemnity Ordinance in Parliament. The 30-year Ganga water-sharing agreement with India has long been in dispute He initiated the overall economic development of the country including Chittagong Hill Tracts, inauguration of the country’s first and longest Bangabandhu Jamuna Bridge, making the country self-sufficient in food for the first time in history, and brightening the country’s image internationally. Once again the conspirators were enraged by his actions and again planned to kill him like Bangabandhu. The conspirators attempted to kill him at least 20 times. On August 16, 1983, Sheikh Hasina was attacked by a grenade, on October 16, 1986, her residence was attacked, on January 24, 1988, she was shot at in Chittagong, on August 11, 1989, she herself confessed to the firing of Freedom Party cadres at number 32. In 1991 he was attacked in Dhaka, on 23 September 1994 he was attacked while traveling by train between Iswardi and Natore, on 20 July 2000 a seventy-six kg bomb was planted near a public meeting in Kotalipara, Gopalganj to kill him, on 5 July 2004 while traveling in Turkey. He was threatened with death. The worst attack happened on 21 August 2004. That day the killers wanted to make another 15 August. Women’s Awami League leader Ivy Rahman and 24 people died that day. But God kills who! Every time he was saved by the love of the people of Bangladesh. An undemocratic emergency government emerged in the country on January 11, 2007, when he was agitating again to institutionalize democracy after many ups and downs. When he stayed abroad for personal, medical and family work, the emergency government again prevented him from returning home. But his determination could not hold him back like his father. He returned to the country in July 2007, but again fell under the fire of the emergency government and had to be arrested on July 16, 2007, just like Bangabandhu. He was able to form the country’s government again through a historic election in 2008 after almost a year in that prison. Since then, during the five years of successfully governing the country, Bangabandhu has executed the verdict of the assassination trial, brought forward the trial of war criminals and implemented several major verdicts, brought the country from the ranks of low-income countries to the ranks of developing countries in terms of economic burden, completely transformed the country into digital, own By adopting the Padma Bridge Construction Master Plan for financing, it is moving forward rapidly in its implementation, working to reach the country’s next Mission-2021 and Vision-2041 goals. She is bringing rare honours, honors and awards for the country and for herself, empowering women. So these can’t be finished with angels. It can be said very strongly that Bangladesh would not have been created if Bangabandhu and Awami League had not been born, democracy would not have been established in the country if his daughter had not taken the lead of the country. Bangladesh might have had to be satisfied with the slander of that bottomless basket. Therefore, for Awami League, Bangabandhu’s rightful successor is Sheikh Hasina, the national treasure of today’s country. Therefore, Awami League has been in power for a long time. When in power, the party and the government often become one. That is why Awami League should have moved forward on the path indicated by Bangabandhu.
