An awareness rally has been held in Jhalakathi at the initiative of the district administration to increase public awareness about preventing various mosquito-borne diseases including dengue.
On Saturday morning, the rally started from the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises and circled various roads of the city. Acting Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kawsar Hossain led the rally. Present at the time were Upazila Executive Officer Segufta Mehnaz, Dr. Abual Hasan, specialist physician of the Medicine Department of Sadar Hospital, officials and employees of various government departments, teachers and students of educational institutions, members of voluntary organizations and dignitaries. The participants in the rally carried banners and festoons with various awareness messages on dengue prevention.
Organizers said that to prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases, it is very important to keep homes and surrounding areas clean, ensure that there is no stagnant water anywhere, and increase public awareness.
The district administration has urged everyone to be aware of dengue prevention from their respective positions.
