Kazi Mamun : The president of Dashmina Upazila Chhatra Odhikar Parishad of the district, Md. Masudur Rahman, was attacked. The incident occurred on Tuesday night on his way back home from the upazila. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Dashmina Upazila Health Complex. According to local sources, Masudur Rahman was returning home around 9:30 pm after exchanging greetings and holding a joyous procession of the newly formed Upazila Chhatra Odhikar Parishad committee. On the way, some masked people beat him up indiscriminately in the Muslimpara area. On receiving the news, the leaders and workers of the organization rescued him and admitted him to the hospital. Organizing Secretary of the Upazila Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, Md. Al Amin said, ‘A few days ago, a new committee of Dashmina Upazila Chhatra Odhikar Parishad was formed. On this occasion, we held a joyous procession last night. After the procession, Masudur Rahman returned home. After a while, he called me and told me that he had been attacked. Later, we went to the spot and rescued him. The victim of the attack, Masudur Rahman, said that on his way back from the upazila last night, some masked people beat him updiscriminately and injured him. He believes that the attack may have been caused by internal conflicts within the organization centered around the committee. Abdul Alim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dashmina Police Station, told Prothom Alo that he has received a complaint of attack on Masudur Rahman. The matter is being investigated. However, no written complaint has been received from the victim so far.
