Customers have formed a human chain against Al-Hemayet Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, which disappeared with about 10 crore taka snatched from customers by talking about interest-free profits in Rajapur of Jhalkathi. This human chain was formed in front of the office of the organization in Galua Pakapol Bazar area of Rajapur Upazila on Friday morning.
Speakers in the human chain complained that ten years ago, General Secretary of Rajapur Upazila Branch of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Maulana Rafiqul Islam Akon, Mufti Syed Mohammad Tajul Islam and Maulana Helal Uddin established Al-Hemayet Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited. Various simple people of the area deposit their earned money in that institution. Within a short period of time the customers are attracted by the common people in the area with huge profits. But suddenly a week ago the officials of Al-Hemayet Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited locked the office and disappeared. After getting the news, customers gathered in front of the company’s head office at Galua Pakapol Bazar area of Rajapur Upazila in the district from Friday morning. Victims Alea Begum, Mizanur Rahman, Sirajul Islam, Md. who deposited money in the institution. Many people including Hanif, Mohiuddin Khan, Altaf, Kamal, Helena said that we had about ten lakh taka deposited in that institution. The officials of the organization ran away with this money.
The vice chairman of the company, Mufti Hedayet Ullah Ansari, said on the phone, “I am only nominal vice chairman, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Akon used to control all matters including money transactions and purchase of land deposits.” I will resolve the matter with the customers who have deposited money in this institution through me. Pulak Chandra Roy, officer-in-charge of Rajapur police station, said that legal action will be taken against them if a written complaint is received in this regard.
