Mumtaz Uddin:
The dispute between the plaintiff and the family of the accused over a murder case in the capital’s Turag police station area has come under renewed discussion. Hira Akhter, the wife of the first accused in the case, has alleged that she and her children are being prevented from entering their house and that SI Shashat Dutta has allegedly taken possession of their 22-karat gold ornaments, 2 ACs, a motorcycle, a laptop, an iPhone and other goods by stamping them with a date before the incident.
The victim, Hira Akhter, said, “My husband is an accused in the murder case – this will be tried in court. But I am not able to enter my house with my children. We have come to know that a white stamp was taken from my husband in collusion with the police.
I want the right to enter my house. If I am not allowed to stay, at least our goods should be returned.”
He further alleged that the SI Shashat Dutta, concerned, was accused of taking a bribe of about 220,000 taka by promising to lighten the case and not to take him on remand.
When attempts were made to contact him in this regard, the accused SI did not answer the phone. However, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Turag Police Station said, “The key to the house is currently with the plaintiff in the case. He has been asked to bring the key. Once the key is brought, it will be handed over properly.”
According to local sources, the plaintiff Mujahidul Alam has been accused of using various tactics to take control of the gold ornaments in the defendant’s house.
However, no direct statement was received from the plaintiff in this regard.
The incident has created a sensation in the area. The victim’s family has sought immediate intervention from the administration and demanded a fair investigation into the matter.
