Shafiuddin (Shamim) provided 1 auto rickshaw to 9 unemployed helpless men of 9 wards of the union in Ekbaria Hafiz Ahmed High School grounds of Adra Union, 1 sewing machine to 9 helpless women, medical assistance to 15 sick patients, 9 Maternity allowance to childbearing women, honors and gifts to 29 martyrs and senior Awami League leaders and financial assistance to 9 mosques and 1 temple.
Comilla South District Awami League Vice President A.Z.M Shafiuddin (Shamim) was present as the chief guest in the program presided over by Manjur Hossain Majumder, former president of Adra Union Awami League. Locals said that it is a timely and commendable initiative to support the 42 families by extending humanitarian aid to help them in livelihood, helpless poor women, health issues of maternity mothers who are not able to get treatment and extreme poverty.
A pregnant mother who came to take maternity allowance said that it is difficult to get two meals a day with the little income of her husband, there is no need to think about nutritious food for the health of herself and the unborn child. With the help of Shamim bhai, now I can eat a little nutritious food and I can also take doctor’s advice.
In the speech of the chief guest, A.Z.M Shafiuddin (Shamim) said that we have taken this kind of assistance to reduce interdependence and provide self-employment, health of expectant mothers and unborn children, thinking about those who cannot get treatment in extreme poverty, and to be by their side. Apart from this, there are many senior and dedicated leaders of our party who have selflessly worked for the party, spent their own money and worked for the party. I feel blessed to honor them on this occasion today.
He said that the distribution of grants has already been completed in Aganagar, Payalgacha, Shilmuri (S), Khoshbas (E), Shakpur and Khoshbas South Union of the upazila, and this program will be continued in each union of Barura upazila. He said, making poor people self-reliant, eradicating poverty, reducing unemployment, developing skilled manpower and creating employment is one of the goals of me and SQ Foundation. My family has been supporting me for the past 30 years in various ways to achieve this goal.
He also said that in the last 14 and a half years, Bangladesh has achieved significant success in almost all economic indicators during the regime of honorable Prime Minister Jannetri Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh has now become a developing country from a less developed country. The standard of living has changed through education, health, per capita income, civil services and multifaceted social security programs. Economic development of Bangladesh is now unstoppable through various mega projects implemented and ongoing. The people of the country are enjoying the benefits of the elevated expressway from Payra Sea Port, Padma Bridge, Metrorail, Airport to Qutubkhali near Jatrabari. Karnaphuli tunnel will be opened in Chittagong very soon. Bangladesh will become a modern state in South Asia after the completion of several ongoing major projects including Matarbari deep sea port, Rooppur nuclear power plant.
