​Mirsarai Correspondent : ​Police in Zorarganj, Chattogram, arrested two Rohingya drug traffickers with 1,800 Yaba pills and a fugitive wanted under an arrest warrant in separate drives. The arrests were made during operations conducted on Friday (July 31) night and earlier.
​According to police sources, an operational team led by Zorarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Halim, along with Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Saddam Hossain and accompanying force, conducted a drive based on secret information at the Uttara Bus Stand area in North Sonapahar under Ward No. 2 of Baraiyarhat Municipality. During the drive, police caught the two Rohingya drug peddlers red-handed with 1,800 Yaba tablets while they were attempting to flee.
​The arrestees were identified as Aziz Khan (19) from Block-E4 and Bashir Alam (21) from Block-D of Kutupalong Rohingya Camp No. 7 in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. Police recovered 1,000 Yaba pills from Aziz Khan and 800 from Bashir Alam.
​In a separate drive, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Khondokar Babul Islam and his force arrested Md. Tarequl (20), a warrantee in a CR case, from the Chhattarua area of Zorarganj. Tarequl is the son of the late Korban Ali from that locality.
​Confirming the matter, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Zorarganj Police Station stated that legal action has been taken against the arrested individuals, and they have been produced before the court. He emphasized that the police’s zero-tolerance drive against narcotics will continue.
