Journalist Akash Mahmud (25) was attacked by terrorists while gathering news in the Maisala bus stand area of ​​Pangsha municipality in Rajbari. It is alleged that the attackers deleted the video recorded from his mobile phone at that time.
It is learned that the attack occurred on July 25 at around 6 pm while he was on duty in the Maisala bus stand area of ​​Pangsha town. The injured journalist Akash Mahmud is a multimedia reporter for the national daily Kaler Kantho and works in online media.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, journalist Akash was recording a video of the situation surrounding an auto-rickshaw. At that time, some auto-rickshaw drivers got angry and attacked him unexpectedly. It is alleged that the attackers beat him up and also took away the mobile phone he was using and deleted the video recorded.
Locals rescued him who was seriously injured in the attack and first took him to the Pangsha Upazila Health Complex. After providing primary treatment there, the doctors advised him to be taken elsewhere if he needed advanced treatment.
The incident has created intense anger and concern among the journalist community. Local journalists, media workers and conscious citizens have demanded exemplary punishment by quickly identifying the culprits and bringing them under the law. At the same time, a strong demand has been made to the administration to ensure the safety of journalists engaged in news gathering.
