This information was given in a press release sent from the Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB) on Saturday (July 25) afternoon.The notification said that in the last 24 hours, separate raids were conducted in the responsible border areas and various smuggled goods including Indian cosmetics, cumin, tree trunks, illegal current nets, cattle, etc. worth a total of Tk 31,90,750 were seized.
The BGB said that members of the Kurigram Battalion are conducting regular operations to prevent smuggling, prevent illegal infiltration and protect the sovereignty of the country. They are performing their duties with utmost caution and professionalism in implementing the ‘zero tolerance’ policy declared by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the border areas.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Haq, commander of Kurigram 22 Battalion, said that BGB’s operations to prevent smuggling and illegal activities at the border will continue in the future.
