Dinajpur Correspondent: Bangladesh Red Crescent Society has handed over modern medical equipment worth about Tk 4.5 crore to improve the quality of services at Tayyaba Majumdar Blood Center in Dinajpur.
On Monday (July 13) morning, at a function organized at the auditorium of Tayyaba Majumdar Blood Center located in the suburbs of the city, Dr. Shahana Zafar, Director of Blood Donation Program of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society National Headquarters, officially handed over these equipment to the blood center authorities.
Later, she emphasized on the proper use and maintenance of the equipment and said that if maximum use of modern technology is ensured, safe blood collection, storage and supply activities will be more dynamic and standard.
Advocate Mofazzal Hossain Dulal, Chairman of Dinajpur Unit of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and District Council Administrator, presided over the function.
Dinajpur Unit Ad Hoc Committee Vice Chairman AKM Azad, members Khalequzzaman Babu, Md. Mokarram Hossain, Md. Shahidur Islam Shahin Khan and Advocate Molla Sakhawat Hossain were present at the event. In addition, Dinajpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Alhaj Md. Abu Bakr Siddique, District BNP Vice President Alhaj Mahbub Ahmed, Organizing Secretary Aminul Islam Munna, Office Secretary Lecturer Akhtaruzzaman Akhter, Joint Secretary of Zia Heart Foundation Abu Taher Abu, In-charge of Tayyaba Majumder Blood Center Khandaker Saiful Islam, Deputy Youth President-1 of Youth Red Crescent Dinajpur Unit Md. Mehedi Hasan and representatives of various social, political and voluntary organizations were present.
The equipment handed over includes a refrigerated centrifuge (cell separator), a 4 degree Celsius blood refrigerator, a minus 40 degree Celsius blood deep freezer and necessary accessories. The estimated cost of these equipments is around 4.5 crore taka.
In his speech as the president, Advocate Mofazzal Hossain Dulal said that a plan has been taken to build a 10-bed modern hospital at the Taiba Majumdar Blood Center to expand medical services for thalassemia patients. He also assured the necessary financial support from the District Council for the implementation of this project.
Red Crescent officials said that the addition of new equipment will further increase the capacity of blood collection, storage, component separation and safe blood supply. With this, patients from Dinajpur and surrounding districts will also get better and faster services.
