Three-day fruit fair inaugurated in Pangsha

A three-day fruit fair was inaugurated in Pangsha upazila of Rajbari with a colorful ceremony. The fair was organized to increase the production of local seasonal fruits, create public awareness about their nutritional value and motivate farmers to preserve the fruits.
Keeping in mind the theme of “I will cultivate my own fruits, I will preserve them for twelve months,” Pangsha Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Rifatul Haque inaugurated the fair at the Upazila Farmers Training Ground on Monday (July 13) at 10 am.
Pangsha Upazila Agriculture Officer Tofazzal Hossain, Upazila Social Service Officer Rabiul Islam, Upazila Cooperative Officer Saiful Islam and officials from various government departments were present at the time. Local public representatives, farmers, students and people from different classes and professions also participated in the program.
Various types of local fruits including mango, jackfruit, litchi, guava, amra, amolki, and latkon were displayed at the fair. Through the displayed fruits, visitors are getting an idea about the different varieties of fruits, their nutritional value, cultivation and preservation methods.
The organizers said that this fair has been organized to further enrich fruit-based agriculture, encourage farmers to produce safe and nutritious fruits, and instill the habit of eating local fruits among the people.
The fruit fair, organized by the Pangsha Upazila Department of Agricultural Extension, will be open to the public for the next three days.
