Pabna Correspondent: Keeping in mind the theme “Climate Change: Today’s Action, Tomorrow’s Security”, World Environment Day was celebrated at the initiative of the District Administration and Department of Environment, Pabna.
On this occasion, a colorful rally was taken out from the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises in the morning. After the rally, the guests officially inaugurated the day by releasing balloons.
After the inauguration, Yusuf Ali, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment, Pabna, delivered a welcome speech in the discussion meeting held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Moniruzzaman.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam said that everyone should be aware of the adverse effects of climate change and individuals, society and the state should work together to preserve the environment. He emphasized on more tree plantation, eco-friendly living and proper use of natural resources to build a livable and safe future.
Representatives of various environmental organizations, political leaders, government officials and people from different walks of life participated in the discussion.
At the end of the program, prizes were distributed among the winners of the environmental painting competition organized at the school level. Later, the World Environment Day program ended with tree plantation in the premises of the District Commissioner’s office.
