Mymensingh Sadar-4 constituency MP Abu Wahab Akand Wahid has assured the family of the deceased in the murder of Krishak Dal leader Sohel Rana (33) in an organized attack due to a previous dispute in the Char Ishwardia area under Kotwali Model Police Station of Mymensingh, consoling and assuring justice for the deceased.
Today, July 7, 2026, he personally visited the house of the deceased and inquired about the grieving family and provided financial assistance. At that time, the MP became emotional holding the 5-month-old child of the deceased BNP activist Sohel in his arms and assured exemplary justice along with the arrest of the remaining accused as soon as possible. Strongly condemning and protesting the incident, MP Abu Wahab Akand Wahid said, “No killing is desirable; I strongly condemn and protest this incident and the maximum punishment will be ensured for those involved without delay.” It is worth noting that on Tuesday afternoon, June 2, during a clash between the two sides in front of a grocery store in Char Ishwardia area, Rana Mia came forward to protect his brother and was seriously injured by the opponent’s country-made weapon. Later, he was rescued and taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. In this incident, the elder brother of the deceased, Md. Mofazzal Hossain, has filed a murder case with the Kotwali Model Police Station, naming 10 people and accusing 10/12 others, including unknown names, as plaintiffs. Upon receiving the news of the murder, the police quickly visited the scene and started an investigation and have already been able to arrest four accused involved in the incident – Mahmudul Islam Mahin (20), son of Mofidul Islam Master of Char Iswardia Madhyapara area, Tofazzal Hossain (40), son of the deceased Ali Hossain, Md. Humayun Kabir Akash (23), son of Tofazzal Hossain, and Monirul Islam (24), son of Chan Mia.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) of the district police Md. Abdullah Al Mamun said in a press release that the police’s special operation is continuing to unravel the real mystery of the incident and arrest the remaining accused in the case and the situation is currently normal.
