A written complaint has been submitted to the District BNP President and General Secretary demanding that those who were beneficiaries and party contractors during the previous Awami League government still get various development works identified and brought under organizational measures and justice. The complaint was made by Mohammad Joynal Abedin, Organizing Secretary of Chitmarom Union BNP of Kaptai Upazila of Rangamati district. The written complaint states that for the past 17 years, a specific syndicate has controlled major contracting works of the Upazila LGED and Rangamati Zilla Parishad. Even after the change of government, some contractors who are allegedly associated with the Awami League are still getting work on various projects, which has created questions and anger among local BNP leaders and activists and the common people. The complaint mentions the names of some contractors and demands that it be investigated how they are getting various development works even after the fall of the Awami League government. At the same time, it is alleged that there is local discussion that these contractors are getting opportunities to get works with the help of some party leaders. A party-level investigation into the matter has also been demanded. In this regard, BNP leader Mohammad Joynal Abedin said, “I have filed this complaint in the interest of protecting the image of the party and identifying those involved in the evil activities of fascism and taking necessary organizational measures.” Regarding the complaint, contractor Bablu said, “Every person can have a political ideology. However, no contracting organization should be judged on political identity. The works I have received through my organization have been completed in accordance with the rules and fairly. I was an Awami League worker, but I did not commit any irregularities or corruption in the contracting work. Although attempts were made to contact the other contractors mentioned in the complaint several times, their statements could not be obtained. The local political arena and conscious circles are watching closely to see what kind of organizational or administrative steps the district BNP takes in this incident.
