Keeping in mind the theme of “Jhalakathi Municipality committed to humanitarian service”, free wheelchairs have been distributed among the disabled in Jhalakathi.
The distribution program was organized at the initiative of Jhalakathi Municipality on Wednesday (July 1) at 12 noon.
Jhalakathi Municipality Administrator Md. Kawsar Hossain was present as the chief guest at the program. District Disability Affairs Officer Md. Firoz Alam was present as the special guest.
The speakers at the program said that such initiatives play an important role in improving the quality of life of the helpless, indigent and disabled people in the society. The municipality authorities said that this program has been taken out of a sense of humanitarian responsibility to stand by the disabled and disadvantaged people.
Municipal Administrator Md. Kawsar Hossain said, Jhalakathi Municipality has always prioritized public welfare activities. Such activities will continue in the future to help the helpless and disabled people. We had given a notification regarding this on the Municipality’s Facebook page, so 11 people came today and distributed wheelchairs to them. He also told reporters, if you know anyone, let them know and we will distribute wheelchairs free of charge to the disabled.
