A special tree plantation program and rally was held at Hularhat Secondary School in Pirojpur to combat the harmful effects of climate change and increase awareness about environmental protection. The program was organized on Monday (June 29) at 2:00 pm in the school premises.
This initiative was taken as part of the awareness program on climate change under the ‘Learning Acceleration in Secondary Education (LACE)’ project under the Department of Secondary and Higher Education.
Administrator of Pirojpur Zilla Parishad, Principal Alamgir Hossain, was present as the chief guest at the program. He formally inaugurated the program by planting saplings of fruit, forest and medicinal trees in the school premises.
In his speech as the chief guest, Principal Alamgir Hossain said,
“There is no alternative to tree planting to address the challenges of climate change. To build a livable and green world for future generations, students need to be environmentally conscious and plant more trees from now on.”
The event was presided over by the school’s headmaster Masum Billah, and was attended by teachers, local dignitaries and students. At the beginning, an awareness rally was taken out, which circled the main roads around the school. In the rally, students displayed various placards and banners related to climate awareness.
The organizers said that the main goal of this project is to spread awareness among students about the need to protect the environment and plant trees.
