Md. Anisur Rahman Shelly: Police have recovered the body of a child student named Senjuti (8) in Sakhipur, Tangail, two days after her disappearance.
Her body was recovered from the pond of the Upazila Parishad at around 8:30 am on Monday (June 22).
The deceased Senjuti is the daughter of Falu Chandra Malu of Mandirpara area of ​​Ward No. 7 of Sakhipur Municipality. She was a second-grade student of Sakhipur Adarsh ​​Shishu Kanan Pre-Cadet School.
According to family sources, Senjuti went missing after 4 pm on Saturday (June 20). Despite searching at various places, the family members could not find any trace of her. Later, when the matter spread on social media, widespread concern arose in the area.
Senjuti’s father, Falu Chandra, filed a general diary (GD) with Sakhipur police station on Saturday night.
The family claims that they received a phone call on Sunday night. In that call, a ransom of three lakh taka was demanded to return Senjuti. However, the police are investigating the authenticity of the phone call and those involved in the incident.
Later, on Monday morning, locals saw the body of a child floating in the Upazila Parishad pond and informed the police. Upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body.
Senjuti’s father, Falu Chandra Malu, said, “My little girl was killed and thrown into the pond. I want exemplary justice for my daughter’s killers.”
Sakhipur police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Helal Uddin said that Senjuti’s body was recovered from the Upazila Parishad pond two days after her disappearance. The body has been sent to the Tangail General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. An investigation is underway to uncover the true mystery of the incident and legal action will be taken.
