Faruk Rahman, Satkhira: The Coast Guard has arrested three active members of the notorious robber Jonab Bahini of the Sundarbans along with weapons and ammunition.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan gave this information on Wednesday morning, June 10, 2026.
He said that under the direction of the current government, two special operations are being conducted under the leadership of the Bangladesh Coast Guard named “Operation Restore Peace in Sundarbans” and “Operation Mangrove Shield” to eliminate all active forest robber forces in the Sundarbans region. In continuation of this operation, an operation was conducted under “Operation Mangrove Shield” and three active members of the notorious robber Jonab Bahini of the Sundarbans were arrested along with weapons and ammunition.
Based on secret information, it is known that members of the notorious robber Jonab Bahini of the Sundarbans are staying in the area adjacent to Kalinchi Switchgate under Shyamnagar Police Station of Satkhira. Based on the information received, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 6 pm, Coast Guard Station Kaikhali conducted a special operation in the area and arrested three active members of the notorious robber Jonab Bahini of the Sundarbans.
Later, based on the information of the arrested robbers, 1 single-barrel gun and 2 rounds of fresh cartridges were recovered from the area adjacent to Harintana Canal under Shyamnagar Police Station at 11 pm on that day.
The arrested robbers Ajibar Gazi (47), Rabiul Gazi (44) and Faruk Hossain (36) are all residents of Shyamnagar Police Station of Satkhira district. They have been active members of the Jonab Bahini for a long time, robbing ordinary fishermen and fishermen in the Sundarbans area and extorting ransom.
The process of taking further legal action against the recovered weapons, ammunition and arrested robbers is under process.
As a result of these ongoing effective operations of the Coast Guard, some local vested interests and unscrupulous gangs are trying to spread misleading and baseless information at various times to tarnish the image of the force and question the crime prevention activities. Despite the propaganda, the Coast Guard’s anti-bandit operation will continue.
He also said that the regular operations and intelligence activities of the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue to keep the Sundarbans completely free of bandits and safe.
