Two youths have been arrested on charges of consuming drugs in Pangsha Upazila of Rajbari and sentenced to imprisonment through mobile court.
On Saturday (June 7), at around 3:30 am, on the instructions of the Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate, Pangsha Police Station SI (retd) Md. Nazrul Islam along with his team, while conducting night duty, arrested two persons sitting together on the north side of the Pepulbaria Government Primary School ground under Pangsha Police Station while consuming drugs.
The arrested persons are— Md. Iqbal Sheikh (father: Md. Al Amin), village: Jagir Malanchi and Md. Sabbir Ahmed Sagar (father: Abdus Salam Mandal), village: Jagir Malanchi.
Later, when the Upazila Executive Officer was informed about the matter, he conducted a mobile court and sentenced both the accused to 1 month’s imprisonment and a fine of Tk 50 each. After the sentence was executed, the accused were sent to jail. In this regard, Pangsha Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Mainul Islam said that the anti-drug campaign will continue and regular campaigns will be conducted to eradicate drugs.
