Kurigram Correspondent : Shimul Sarkar, Sub-Inspector (Unarmed) of Nageshwari Police Station, has been accused of submitting a false investigation report in exchange for a bribe in a land-related case in Nageshwari Upazila of Kurigram.
In this incident, war-wounded freedom fighter Osman Ghani has filed a written complaint with the relevant authorities.
The written complaint states that Mofizul Islam, the eldest son of war-wounded freedom fighter Osman Gani of the Nakharganj Bazar area of the upazila, has purchased 48 acres of land in Askarnagar Mouza and has been occupying it for a long time. Due to a dispute over the land, Tahmina Dilruba, the wife of Ataur Rahman, the owner of the neighboring land, filed a case in the court. The case number is CR-164/2026. The investigation of the case was given to Sub-Inspector Shimul Sarkar.
The complaint further states that the investigation officer, without conducting proper investigation and verifying the information, colluded with the plaintiff on April 14 of this year and submitted a false investigation report to the court in exchange for a large bribe.
According to the complaint, the investigation report mentions that on March 6, Mofizul Islam and his father used local weapons including sticks, machetes and spades to destroy crops and threaten them. However, the complainant claims that the information is completely baseless. Because at that time, war-wounded freedom fighter Osman Gani and his wife were undergoing treatment in Dhaka due to illness.
In this regard, war-wounded freedom fighter Osman Gani said, “I am an 83-year-old war-wounded freedom fighter. The investigation report has been given with false and fabricated information implicating me. Investigation officer Shimul Sarkar has sacrificed his professional ethics in exchange for a bribe. I demand an impartial investigation into this incident and action against those responsible.”
Victim Mofizul Islam said, “The police have filed false information against us in exchange for money. We want a fair and impartial investigation into the matter.”
Local resident Abdul Alim said, “The case filed against Osman Gani and his son Mofizul Islam is false. We want a fair and impartial investigation into the matter.”
When asked about the allegations, the investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Shimul Sarkar, said, “I submitted the investigation report based on the court’s instructions and the information received.”
Nageshwari Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Golam Morshed said in this regard
He said, “We have received such a written complaint. The matter is under investigation on the orders of the Superintendent of Police. If the investigation finds the truth of the complaint, necessary action will be taken.”
