Rabiul Hossain Chowdhury Ripon: With the theme “Inspired by nature. For the climate. For our future”, World Environment Day-2026 was celebrated in Kaptai. On Friday (June 5), a colorful rally and discussion meeting were organized on the occasion of the day by the Comprehensive Community Health Program (CCHP), Christian Hospital Chandraghona in collaboration with the Kaptai Upazila Administration. At 9:30 am, a colorful rally with festoons, banners, placards and musical instruments was taken out from the Kaptai Upazila premises. The rally circled the main roads of Kaptai and Baraichhari Bazar and ended back at the Upazila premises. Later, a discussion meeting was held in the “Kinnari Hall” room of the Kaptai Upazila Parishad. Bijoy Marma, Program Manager of the Comprehensive Community Health Program, moderated the event. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Prabir Kheyang, Director of Christian Hospital Chandraghona. Kaptai Upazila Executive Officer Md. Raihanul Islam was present as the chief guest. District BNP Vice President Dr. Rahmat Ullah and Kaptai Upazila Assistant Information Officer Md. Delwar Hossain spoke as special guests. Speaking as the chief guest at the meeting, Upazila Executive Officer Md. Raihanul Islam said, “Everyone must be aware of protecting the environment and combating the adverse effects of climate change. To build a safe and habitable world for future generations, joint efforts are needed to plant trees, prevent environmental pollution and conserve natural resources. In the president’s speech, Dr. Prabir Kheyang said, “A healthy life is not possible without a healthy environment. Awareness must be raised at every level of individuals, families and society to protect the environment. There is no alternative to everyone working together to protect forests, mountains and biodiversity. Officials and employees of the Comprehensive Community Health Program (CHP), Christian Hospital, representatives of various organizations, media personnel and local dignitaries were present at the event. Participants in the program organized on the occasion of World Environment Day emphasized the importance of environmental conservation, combating the risks of climate change and raising awareness in building a greener world.
