Monday, 18/05/26, a discussion meeting was held at the Upazila auditorium with the students of various educational institutions in a joint initiative of the Gazaria Upazila Administration and the Narcotics Control Department.
Present at the meeting, presented by Upazila Secondary Education Officer Zakir Hossain, were Upazila Executive Officer Mahmudul Hasan, Upazila Health Complex Resident Medical Officer Dr. Nusrat Jahan Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Gazaria Police Station —- Hasan Ali, Gazaria Police Station Press Club Advisor Journalist Shafiq Dhali, Gazaria Police Station Press Club President Neyamul Haque Nayan, teachers of various educational institutions, students, political leaders and representatives of civil society.
In his speech as the chief guest, the Executive Officer said, we have to keep an eye on our children so that they do not get addicted to drugs. Moreover, drug addiction treatment centers are working for drug addicts. They have a lot of contributions. If the state, society, and family all work together against drugs, 99% of the problem will be solved.
Speaking on the main topic of the meeting, Gazaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Hasan Ali said, no one will understand their pain except those in whose family there is a drug addict. Drug addiction is increasing in our youth society, which is a threat to our country. The current government has adopted a zero tolerance policy in drug control. So my proposal is that if motivational camping can be organized in every educational institution with the participation of students and guardians, then maybe we will get a positive result.
Among the invited guests, the District Drug Control Officer said, if we all fulfill our responsibilities properly from our respective positions, then we can reduce the impact of drugs in the society.
