Homeowner fights with robbers, one robber killed in bloody clash

A bloody clash took place between a homeowner and a gang of robbers during an attempted robbery at a teacher’s house late at night in Pirojpur. One robber was killed in the incident. The homeowner and his son were seriously injured in the clash.

The incident took place at around 2 am on Saturday (April 18) in Kalardowania village of Nazirpur upazila of the district.

The deceased robber was identified as Dulal, according to police. He was a resident of Ekta Bazar area of ​​Hijla upazila of Barisal district.

The injured are Ujjal Bahadur (51) and his son Mishkaf Bahadur (19). Ujjal is a teacher and businessman at a local private college.

Locals said that a group of seven armed robbers raided Ujjal Bahadur’s house at around 2 am. When the robbers entered the house and attacked Ujjal Bahadur with sharp weapons, the family members resisted. At one stage, a scuffle and scuffle broke out between the two parties. Hearing the screams, local people came forward with sticks, and six other members of the robber group fired blank shots and fled. However, one robber was seriously injured on the spot in the clash.

Later, upon receiving information, the police and locals rescued the injured and took them to the Nazirpur Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor declared the robber dead. On the other hand, the seriously injured Ujjal Bahadur and his son were sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment after receiving primary treatment.

Nazirpur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mashiur Rahman said that the injured robber died after being brought to the hospital in a critical condition. In addition, the injured house owner and his son were sent elsewhere for advanced treatment.

Preparations are underway to file a case at Nazirpur Police Station after the incident. Additional Superintendent of Police of Pirojpur Sadar Circle Nasrin Jahan visited the scene.

Nazirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Tariqul Islam said that legal action is underway in the case of attempted robbery and murder. Police surveillance has been increased in the area.

Currently, the situation is tense and there is a fear of robbers in the area. According to the initial assumption of the police, the attack was carried out with the aim of looting money and gold ornaments.
