Deputy Commissioner announced ideal union in Dinajpur through various events initiated by World Vision

Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam said, Child marriage and child labor are a social disease. Everyone should come together to prevent it. In this regard, widespread public awareness should be created among the people of the area to stop child marriage and child labor. The members of World Vision’s Children and Youth Forum should be further empowered to form an ideal union to eliminate child marriage and child labor.

On Tuesday, September 2, at the Shishu Academy auditorium, jointly organized by the district administration, upazila administration and Union Parishad administration and in collaboration with Dinajpur AP, World Vision Bangladesh, he said the above in his speech as the chief guest at the Ideal Union Declaration to Eliminate Child Marriage and Child Labor-2025.

Dinajpur Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Shahin Sultana presided over the welcome speech and Dinajpur AP, World Vision Bangladesh Senior Manager Arvind Sylvester Gomez delivered the welcome speech. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Md. Anwar Hossain, President of Dinajpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of Askarpur Union Alhaj Abu Bakkar Siddique, Deputy Director of Imam Training Academy Md. Alamgir Haider, President of Kazi Samity Kazi Md. Abdus Sattar, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Shakerina Begum, Dinajpur Dharma Pradesh Victor General Father Kerubim Bakdhshra;la spoke as special guests. Md. Sirajul Islam delivered the welcome address on behalf of Fazilpur Union, Alhaj Ruhul Amin on behalf of Uthrail Union, Md. Gulzar Hossain on behalf of Auliapur Union, and Md. Nur Alam on behalf of Sheikhpura Union. Child representatives Md. Al Momin and Nusrat Jahan Mitu read out the declaration on the elimination of child marriage and child labor. Program officers John Paul Scu and Estella Soren served as moderators. Chief guest Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam and the guests informally declared Auliapur Union, Sheikhpura Union and Askarpur Union as child labor-free unions and Fazilpur Union, Sundarban Union and Uthrail Union as child marriage-free unions. In his welcome speech, Senior Manager Arvind Silvestre Gomez said that World Vision Bangladesh’s ‘We Can End Physical Violence Against Children’ global campaign is one of them. To this end, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals-2030, non-governmental organizations will work together with the government to eliminate all forms of violence, abuse, exploitation and child marriage against children.
