3 sentenced to life imprisonment, 3 to life imprisonment in child rape case in Thakurgaon

The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal has announced the verdict in a child rape case that took place in Thakurgaon after a long 15 years. In the verdict, 3 accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment and the other 3 accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment. On Sunday, July 19, 2026, District and Sessions Judge Ali Mansur, judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, announced the verdict. In the verdict, Anis, Saiful, and Dulal were sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 9(3) of the Women and Children’s Repression Prevention Act, 2000, along with a fine of 2 lakh taka each, and Anisur, Khatibur, and Lalu were sentenced to life imprisonment, a fine of 1 lakh taka each, and an additional 1 year of rigorous imprisonment under Section 9(3) 30 of the same act. The details of the case reveal that on October 21, 2011, a 14-year-old girl was forcibly taken away and gang-raped in the Dakshin Salandar area of ​​Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila. After the incident, the victim’s father filed a case with Thakurgaon Police Station as the plaintiff. After a long judicial process and taking testimony, the verdict in this much-discussed case was announced after almost 15 years. 5 accused were present in the court for the verdict. However, the court has issued an arrest warrant along with a sentence warrant against the main accused Anis Rana, who has been sentenced to life imprisonment, as he is absconding. In the verdict, Advocate Badiuzzaman Chowdhury, the special public prosecutor (PP) for the state, said that the verdict was fair and just.
