On the way back from Saint Martin’s Island in Cox’s Bazar, the staff of the Bay-Cruise ship has been accused of beating Chittagong University students twice. At least 10 students were injured. This incident took place last Tuesday (March 14) afternoon. According to the complaint of the students, the first round of beatings took place after the Bay-Cruise ship reached the middle of the sea. After the ship reached Damdamiya jetty in Teknaf, the second round of attack was carried out. 10 students were injured in this. Riduan, a student of Chittagong University’s political science department, said that 75 students of Chabir were returning from St. Martin Island by Bay-Cruise ship last Tuesday. The ship’s staff removed the students from their seats midway. When asked to know the reason for handing over, the staff and their associates who boarded the passenger seat started beating the students. Later, when the ship arrived at the Damdamiya Jetty, another round of beatings took place. 10 students were seriously injured. Teknaf Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mohammad Kamruzzaman confirmed the incident and said that the situation has been normalized after reaching the spot. A written complaint has been taken from the students after talking to them. Students are sent to Chittagong by bus. The incident will be investigated and legal action will be taken. When asked about this, Bay-Cruise ship director Hossainul Islam Bahadur said, on the contrary, he claimed that the staff were beaten. He said, this incident happened while sitting on the seat. However, none of the ship’s staff attacked.
