A young man named Alam Mia (30) was taken from his house and beaten to death in Gafargaon, Mymensingh, over a dispute over the boundaries of his house’s land. Police have arrested three people involved in the incident.
The incident took place at 1:30 am on Thursday (March 26) in the Porshipara area of ​​Gafargaon upazila. The deceased, Alam Mia, is the son of Saharuddin of the area.
The arrested persons are: Md. Abdul Kader (55), son of the deceased Abdul Awal, Md. Mazharul (30), son of Mohammad Ibrahim, and Md. Imran Islam (25), son of Shamsul Haque. All the arrested are residents of the same upazila.
According to police and local sources, Aman Mia and his family members had been in a dispute with Saharuddin of the area for a long time over the boundaries of their house’s land. Despite several local arbitrations, no settlement has been reached.
On the day of the incident, around 5 pm on Thursday, tension arose between the two parties over a land boundary dispute. At one point, Alam Mia beat up Aman Mia’s mother, Asia Begum.
Following this incident, Aman Mia and his family members took Alam Mia out of their house, locked him in a room and beat him severely. Alam Mia died on the spot. Later, upon receiving information, the police recovered Alam Mia’s body at 1:30 am that day.
Mymensingh Additional Superintendent of Police (Finance and Administration) Md. Abdullah Al Mamun said, the body has been recovered and sent to the morgue of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The operation to arrest other accused involved in the incident is ongoing. Legal action is under process in this incident.
