World Press Freedom Day (World Free Press Day) has been celebrated by Comilla Professional Journalists Union through various programs. The theme of this year’s World Press Freedom Day was “Journalism in the face of environmental crisis” on the occasion of the day, prayers, discussions and rallies were held for the killed, injured and sick journalists across the country.

The meeting was held on the afternoon of Friday (3 May 2024 AD) at the office of the organization on the 5th floor of Kandirpar New Market, Comilla under the chairmanship of Md. Babar Hossain, senior vice president of the organization and bureau chief of daily Ekushe Sanbad Patrika.

The general secretary of the organization and the editor of Daily Comilla Pratidin, Md. Jewel Rana Majumdar, attended the meeting as the chief guest. Comilla Press Club Co-General Editor Zaham TV representative Bahar Raihan, SA TV Comilla representative Md. Rafiqul Islam were present as special guests.

Speakers said that if journalists can freely write and express their opinion in the mass media, it is possible to remove injustice, irregularities and corruption from the society.
