Ā Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that women should not raise their demands for rights, women should earn their rights themselves.

The Prime Minister said this at the inauguration of Joyita Tower organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs at Ganobhaban Complex on Tuesday (October 17). Prime Minister’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana was present on the occasion.

In the event, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the book titled ‘Contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to Economic Empowerment of Women’.

The Prime Minister said, women should not just bow their heads, give us our rights. You have to earn your own rights. He also quoted poems of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam. The Prime Minister highlighted the story of his mother and said that it is proof of how far a man can go or how far a country can go if a woman is by his side.

The Prime Minister said, when men could not come down on the streets, our women leaders were on the streets in agitation and struggle. Many female leaders including Ivy Rahman have also given their lives. I remember them.

Sheikh Hasina said, my mother Sheikh Fazilatun Necha Mujib provided strength and courage to my father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib. He used to say to his father, you will not worry. My mother has seen everything to make us study and take care of the family.

He said that the father of the nation sacrificed his life to free people from deprivation. Imprisoned many times. He gave us freedom. With his call, the people of the country won the victory in the war of liberation. He is the one who started the socio-economic development of the people of the country.

The Chief Minister said, we have established Joyita Foundation to empower women and create employment opportunities for women. I made this tower to display the products produced by women. The land of Ganabhaban is blessed today, skilled and successful women entrepreneurs from remote areas have come here.

State Minister of Women and Child Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira also spoke at the event, Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister Tofazzal Hossain Mia, President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Women and Children Affairs Ministry Meher Afroz Chumki, Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Najma Mubarek and Managing Director of Joyita Foundation Afroza Khan also spoke at the event.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the newly constructed Joyita Tower at Dhanmondi at 10 am. He also inaugurated Jamdani Gallery and Jayita Market Place there.

Jayita Tower has been constructed with state-of-the-art physical infrastructure facilities to ensure women’s economic empowerment by involving the country’s women entrepreneurs in multi-faceted business ventures under the Jayita brand. Jayita Tower will have facilities for marketing various types of products, supply chain and services produced and processed by women entrepreneurs of the country with universal accessibility. In this building, physical infrastructural facilities have been kept for training women entrepreneurs based on knowledge, skills, business management and development strategies. There are ample car parking facilities and spacious lobby.

Besides, the building will house the headquarters of Jayita Foundation. Jayita Iconic Tower has Child Daycare Center, Design Center, Beauty Parlour, Gymnasium for Women, Swimming Pool for Women and Children, Multipurpose Hall, Seminar Hall, Bank, Food Court and Cafe. E-Joita online market place has been launched.
