A mere promotion turned the wheels of ShamsulHaque’s fate, a line-man super of Dhaka Wasa Mods Zone-4.

The preferment becomes blessing for ShamsulHaque though the designation of the state-run institution is not so high. Now, he is the owner of two multi-storied buildings in the capital, valuable cars and huge bank balance.

He himself does not know the total worth of his property. Those who knew him earlier, are surprised to see his present status. They are thinking that there is definitely something hidden in WASA which can turn the wheels of one’s fate. Shamsul is the example of it.

A man named Abu Musa has already filed a complaint against Shamsul with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). In the complaint, Abu Musa mentioned that he has a multi-storied building at Block-B, Road No-1, House No-20 in Mirpur-1 under Shah Ali thana which is owned by Shamsul’s wife. His son-in-law Akram Hossain runs Fortune Pharmacy located on the ground floor of the building. There is also an office of Asian Driving Training Centre on the same floor of the building.

Besides these, he built a six-storied building at Block-B, Road-2, House-29 at Shah Ali Thana Road worth about Taka five crore. How did he earn these properties? Local people do not have the courage to ask this question openly.

Seeking anonymity, few residents of Mirpur said, ShamsulHaque has taken Mirpur WASA at his grapple by colluding with the local influentials. He controls senior officials after being a low-profile employee.

Almost all the residents of Mirpur acknowledge that Dhaka WASA Mods Zone-4 P.L.I employee ShamsulHaque has become millionaire by irregularities and corruption. He has been leading a strong syndicate at the Mods Zone-4 for long. The area becomes curse for the newly appointed honest officials, transferred officials of the Zone said.
