Md. Abdul Haque, District Representative:
Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Sanatan religion, is ending today with the immersion of the idol on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami in Harirampur, Manikganj. The five-day autumn festival will end with the visit of Goddess Durga to Kailash and the immersion of the idol.
This morning, prescribed puja and worship were held at the puja mandap. Immediately after this, the immersion of the mirror will take place. According to Hindu scriptures, on Vijaya Dashami, Goddess Durga returns from the mortal world to Kailash. The followers of Sanatan Dharma believe that on this day, the evil spirits, demons, lust, anger, jealousy and lust of the human mind are immersed. Before the immersion of the idol, women indulge in the traditional vermilion game. They believe that participating in this game brings good fortune to the husband and children and happiness and prosperity to the family.
Harirampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mujibur Rahman said, “The discipline and overall situation at the puja mandap is good. No untoward incident has taken place anywhere. The idol immersion will be completed peacefully.”
