Joypurhat Correspondent: Today’s 01 June 26 Two motorcyclists were killed and another injured in a speeding pickup van hit them in Khetlal, Joypurhat. The accident occurred at 11:30 am on Monday in the Kharikata Kharita area of the Nishchinta-Chanpara road. Muktarul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khetlal police station, confirmed the matter.
The deceased are: Emon Khandaker (29), son of Tajul Islam Khandaker of Sarail Khandaker Para village in Kalai upazila, and Ferdous Hossain (13), son of Shamshul of Harunj village. The injured is Suraiya (19), wife of Emon Khandaker.
OC Muktarul Islam said that the deceased Emon Khandaker was going to invite his wife Suraiya and son Ferdous Hossain to Panchbibi’s aunt’s house on a motorcycle from his home. The motorcycle skidded due to the grass on the road and a pick-up truck coming from Chan Para ran over the motorcycle. Emon Khandaker died on the spot. Locals rescued Ferdous Hossain and admitted him to Joypurhat 250-bed General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Suraiya is undergoing treatment at Kalai Upazila Health Complex.
