Two cases have been registered in Brahmanbaria in connection with the clash with the district Chhatra Dal committee on Monday. The police filed two separate cases at the Sadar police station on Tuesday. In two cases, more than 80 people have been named and two others have been named as defendants. Earlier, in another case filed in the Saturday night incident, the leaders and workers of both parties were also accused. The dispute between the two parties has been going on for five days since the announcement of the new convening committee of the District Chhatra Dal last Thursday. And the people of Brahmanbaria are watching the clash of weapons and the power of cocktails centered on this dispute. However, no untoward incident was reported on Tuesday.
After three days of attacks on the houses of leaders and activists, clashes and chases took place between the two sides on Monday. Ramada is seen in the hands of at least 20-25 people at this time. More than half a hundred cocktails were detonated. The traffic on the Comilla-Sylhet highway was stopped for about 20 minutes due to the chase. Earlier, the administration took a strict stand when both parties gave separate programs on the bank of Loknath Dighi. In this incident, SI Rakibul Islam and Saiful Islam filed a case as plaintiffs at Sadar police station. In one case, recently departed convenor of Chhatra Dal, Fuzael Chowdhury Rubel, and in another case, General Secretary of District Jubo Dal, Yasin Mahmud, has been made the main defendant. The two are known as people of the same party.
Leaders and activists said that last Thursday night Chhatra Dal Central Committee Office Secretary (Vice President rank) Md. A seven-member committee of Brahmanbaria District Chhatra Dal was announced through a press release signed by Jahangir Alam. In the committee, Shahinur Rahman Shaheen was made the convener and Sameer Chakraborty was made the member secretary. The joint conveners of the seven-member committee are Elvin Lashkar, Sajid Ahmed, Rezaul Haque Sheesh, Abdul Ghaffar Rimon and Saiful Islam Fahim. Since the announcement of the committee, there has been tension. After the announcement of the committee, the leaders of the newly-formed committee went to the Kandipara residence of Abu Shamim Mohammad Arif, convener of the district farmers’ party, to exchange greetings. After learning about the matter, outgoing committee convener Rubel Chowdhury Fujael and recently outgoing member secretary Mohsin Mia attacked Abu Shamim’s house at around 11:30 am on Friday. On the same day, the leaders of the outgoing committee attacked the house of the convener of the newly announced District Chhatra Dal, Shahinur Rahman Shaheen, and the joint convener of the District Farmers’ Dal, Municipal Councilor Kausar Mia. At around 10:15 pm on Saturday, Chhatra Dal leaders-activists under the leadership of District Jubo Dal General Secretary Yachin Mahmud and District Chhatra Dal Convenor Rubel Chowdhury Fuzael again attacked the houses of Abu Shamim Mohammad Arif and District Chhatra Dal Convenor Shahinur Rahman. At that time, the attackers detonated 20-25 cocktails and fired several rounds.
Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Emranul Islam said that the debate between the two sides is going on regarding the new committee of Chhatra Dal. Three separate cases have been filed in this regard. Efforts are on to arrest the accused.
