Two-day long border conference between BGB and BJP started in Teknaf

 Region Commander level between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) on issues related to drug trafficking, illegal infiltration, inter-state terrorism, border security, information sharing, coordinated patrolling, mutual trust building at Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar. The 2-day (May 24 and 25) border conference has started. Yesterday, Wednesday, May 24, at 10 am, the meeting officially started in the border upazila Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar. A 15-member Bangladesh delegation participated in the conference. Apart from senior BGB officials, representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs and Narcotics Control Directorate were also present in the Bangladesh delegation. On the other hand, a 16-member Myanmar delegation led by Brigadier General Tet Lin, Commander of the Myanmar Border Guard Police, participated in the conference. The conference will end with the signing of the joint negotiation document on May 25. Prior to this, the Myanmar delegation arrived in Teknaf via Shahparidwip Jetty Ghat on Wednesday morning to participate in the conference. When the Myanmar delegation arrived in Bangladesh, they were warmly greeted and welcomed by the BGB. A well-equipped team presented ‘guard of honor’ to the head of the Myanmar delegation. After the two-day conference, the Myanmar delegation will return to their country on the afternoon of May 25.
