A special training workshop has been completed for 50 journalists from Pirojpur and Jhalokati districts to enhance their professionalism and skills in election-time journalism. The workshop was organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) at the Jhalokati Circuit House Auditorium on January 21 and 22.

‎​On Thursday (January 22) afternoon, the closing ceremony of the workshop was held under the chairmanship of BFUJ President Obaidur Rahman Shaheen and moderated by Jhalokati Press Club President Md. Akkas Sikder
‎ Jhalokati Additional Deputy Commissioner Sarbik Md. Kawsar Hossain as the chief guest and handed over certificates to the trainees. Additional District Magistrate Md. Touhidul Islam was present as the special guest at the ceremony. In the concluding session, Jhalakati Press Club General Secretary A.S.M. Mahamudur Rahman Parvez spoke on behalf of the trainees.

‎​The main goal of this training was to provide objective news and enhance the professional skills of journalists in view of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections.
‎​Responsibilities and duties of journalists in election management.
‎​Code of conduct for political parties and candidates.
‎​Ensuring physical and digital security of journalists.
‎​Referendum and National Parliament elections after the July coup.
‎​Preventing predatory journalism.
‎​Fact-checking information and images to combat fake information, misinformation and rumors.
‎​​Important guidance and training were provided in various sessions at the workshop

‎ Sultan Mahmud, Deputy Editor of Daily Amar Desh, Naimul Aziz Sadek, Senior Reporter of NTV, and Golam Murshed, Senior Trainer of PIB.
‎The participating journalists described the training as timely and said that it would ensure transparency and security in their work at the field level in collecting election news.
